Did you know that the more productive you are the happier you will be ?
If you are feeling low, depressed or not yourself – get busy and do things that are bringing you closer to your goals.
Get busy and into present time.
I have mentioned in previous Wealth Tips that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel or have any special talents, luck, money or even an education to be successful.
Just copy other successful people and do what they do !
It’s that simple.
I read an article titled “One Amazing Woman” by Glenda Thompson in a publication called Business in Durban about Margaret Hirsch of Hirsch’s Appliance stores. Read more about this amazing women….
Hirsch’s are the largest independently owned appliance company in Southern Africa.
I also got some more information about Margaret on the web, from Tame Times – titled “Margaret Hirsch – a woman of substance.”
I have been dealing with Margaret and her husband Alan for many years, even when they only had one tiny store in Durban.
I extracted certain sections from the articles because I personally can relate to them and I am sure you will find them inspiring:
“When she was 12, her father died leaving her mother to fend for herself and two small children.
Margaret’s strong sense of survival and her positive attitude helped pull her little family through the tough times.”
“Having had to battle from an early age, she found that it is possible, through sheer determination and a positive attitude to get ahead.”
“Margaret regards herself as a “jack of all trades”, having done the selling, invoicing, demonstrating, being a delivery person on the trucks, installing and demonstrating in customers’ homes and generally taking care of everything at Hirschs for the past 31 years.
“We have built Hirsch’s from a tiny little store to a billion rand company and I hope that I will be an inspiration to others to know that they can live their dreams as well.”
“We have been offered huge amounts of money to sell the business, but to me it’s a way of life. I think the greatest challenge in running a family owned business is to teach your children from a very young age that they have to work really hard to get ahead. You have to keep working every day of your life.”
A day in Margaret’s life:
An average day in the family starts at 4:00 a.m when Margaret and Alan get up to meditate.
From 5.a.m. to 6.oo a.m. they are at the gym.
They are at their desks at 7.00 a.m. the latest.
A full working day is followed by evening meetings with suppliers and planning meetings for future expansion.
Bed-time is at 11.30 p.m. – not a routine for the faint hearted.
“While other companies were talking about the recession, we have grown 20% year-on-year and look forward to continued growth.”
I am sure you will find the above very inspiring.
What’s more important is that Margaret and her family are doing incredible things for the community by “giving back”.
To Do:
Find someone who is successful and has integrity that you would like to copy.
You don’t even have to know the person – you can read about them. Most successful people who have integrity will share their success secrets because they want the world to be a better place.
Take “baby steps” and “develop good habits” which will make it easy for you to copy them.
Stay away from negative people or people that hold you back from your life purpose.
Stop reading the newspapers or listening to the news
Get out of your comfort zone and be the person you really want to be
Enjoy the journey, grow and have patience.
